Overall, the Group employs approximately 10,000 people. We see these 10,000 employees as both critical stakeholders for the Group, and as valuable assets that support our corporate activities.
Our worksites employ a diverse workforce of partners, foreign-national employees, and employees who continue to work even as they care for children and family. We therefore support these activities and are committed to creating attractive workplaces so that our employees can work in good health and with a sense of fulfillment. We also believe that these initiatives will help us to retain employees, and that employing a diverse range of human resources will enhance our competitiveness as a company.
The Group refers to employees who are generally considered part-time workers as partners (“colleagues” who work together with us).
As part of our health management initiatives, each employee makes a health declaration for the purpose of maintaining and improving their personal health, and engages in health management while striving to achieve their goals. Specifically, each employee writes their health maintenance and improvement related goals on an illustration featuring an onigiri rice ball, one of our mainstay products. After achieving their goals, they report such by coloring the illustrated toasted seaweed section in black to make it appear as though the onigiri rice ball is wrapped in seaweed.
With the aim of enhancing the competitiveness of the company through the employment of a diverse range of human resources, Warabeya Nichiyo Holdings Co., Ltd., established the Diversity Promotion Committee, and has been working to secure and develop a diverse range of human resources, as well as to build a company at which it is comfortable to work.
As for our core human resources, we make every effort to promote talented individuals, regardless of whether they are new graduate or mid-career hires. However, we recognize that our efforts to promote women and foreign nationals are still insufficient. In response, we have set a target to increase the ratio of women in management positions, in particular, at the Group to at least 10% by 2030. Believing that human resources are the driving force behind the Group's sustained growth, we will continue to strive to ensure the diversity of our human resources, provide training, and improve the internal environment.
The Group includes Warabeya Heartful Co., Ltd., as a member that provides various office services.
Warabeya Heartful Co., Ltd., was certified as a special subsidiary company in January 2018, and has been working to promote the employment of people with disabilities ever since.
Leveraging the various initiatives for the employment of people with disabilities that Warabeya Nichiyo Group has accumulated over the years, Warabeya Heartful Co., Ltd., endeavors to provide tailored support for each individual in a way that allows their characteristics and individuality to shine. In recognition of its results, in November 2020 Warabeya Heartful Co., Ltd., became a recipient company under the Commissioned Training Program for the Disabled, which is administered by the Tokyo Foundation for Employment Services under consignment from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
Warabeya Heartful Co., Ltd., does not only employ people with disabilities, but also undertakes various initiatives that contribute to society.
