Sustainability Policy and Promotion System

Under our Group Philosophy (We contribute to the healthy, abundant dietary lives of our customers by providing “safety” together with “products and services of value.”), Warabeya Nichiyo Group aims to realize sustained growth for the Group, and to help achieve a sustainable society through our business activities.

 

In line with this basic policy, our Group has identified the following five material issues.

• Contribute to a circular society (promote decarbonization, reduce environmental impact, and aim to realize a circular society)
•  Provide the joy of food (contribute to the safe, diverse diets of our customers)
•  Realize a sustainable supply chain (reliably procure and supply food in response to climate change and transforming social conditions)
•  Ensure work is rewarding, and respect human rights and diversity (establish systems that enable everyone to flourish)
•  Establish a robust business foundation (strengthen the ability to act flexibly and swiftly in line with changes in the business environment)

Our Group has established a Sustainability Committee chaired by the President to promote initiatives to address climate change and other sustainability issues.

The Sustainability Committee meets four times a year to discuss a wide range of issues involving sustainability and to examine various policies, targets, and measures related to sustainability.

To address climate change, the committee analyzes risks and opportunities through scenario analysis, sets targets for reducing CO₂ emissions and industrial waste emissions, examines measures to achieve these targets, and monitors progress.

The matters discussed and examined by the committee are reported to the Board of Directors each time a meeting is held. The Board of Directors makes decisions on important issues related to sustainability, including climate change, and oversees the Group’s overall sustainability efforts.
