Our Group respects the human rights of everyone involved in our business activities and works to create an environment in which people of diverse backgrounds can flourish. Respecting human rights and promoting diversity strengthen the foundations on which we run our business over the long term.
Human Rights Policy
Guided by our Group Philosophy and by our aim of contributing to a sustainable society through our business activities, we have established a Human Rights Policy.
The policy is founded on a basic approach of supporting and respecting internationally recognized human rights norms. It applies to the directors and employees of our Group, and we ask our business partners to understand and comply with it as well.
Under the supervision of the Board of Directors, the Sustainability Committee promotes initiatives related to respect for human rights.
Through the implementation of human rights due diligence and the operation of an internal whistle-blowing system, we work to prevent and remedy human rights violations.
Moreover, we advance efforts related to respect for human rights through education and awareness-raising and through dialogue with stakeholders.
Under our Human Rights Policy, we have identified priority areas and are taking action on each. These include prohibiting inhumane treatment, forced labor, child labor, and discrimination; ensuring appropriate working conditions; and providing safe products and services.
Promoting Diversity
Our Group is working to build an organization in which people can flourish regardless of gender, nationality, or disability.
We are working to increase the proportion of women in management positions, and have set a target of at least 10% women in management across our Group by fiscal 2030.
As part of our efforts to achieve this goal, we have endorsed a joint declaration on advancing women in the workplace and on diversity management, and we take part in the Tokyo Network for the Advancement of Women Business Leaders run by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
Warabeya Heartful Co., Ltd., a special subsidiary company, is at the center of our efforts to employ people with disabilities.
Since November 2020, Warabeya Heartful has been a host employer for the Contracted Training Program for Persons with Disabilities, which the Tokyo Foundation for Employment Services operates under commission from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
Many employees of foreign nationality work at our plants. On site, we provide notices in multiple languages and use pictograms to create workplace environments that take differences in language and culture into account. To ensure that everyone can work safely and with confidence, we also build mutual understanding and psychological safety by presenting work procedures visually, strengthening on-site guidance systems, and encouraging smooth communication.
In recognition of initiatives such as training on respect for diversity and the introduction of flexible working arrangements, we are registered as a Tokyo Barrier-free Mindsets Support Corporation.
